Overview
To thrive as a well-rounded capable musician and vocal performer you need, in addition to a great voice, an understanding of the mechanics of music. This certificate programme, comprising Five (5) modules, offers music theory (intervals, scales, harmony, etc.), ear training (time, rhythm, pitch using the solfege method, etc.), and voice studies (breath, technique, vocal care, etc.) and few others. The focus of the Certificate in Voice Studies programme is the application of voice skills their various professions. It is particularly likely to appeal to professionals who already have a knowledge and interest in the voice e.g., actors, directors, drama teachers and trained singers.
Programme Learning Outcome
Students completing this Certificate in Voice Studies will:
1. have developed skills in the practice of using the voice, language and text in preparation for rehearsal and production in school and community settings or for their own professional development;
2. have critically examined, learned and practised a range of approaches suitable for working with the voice and speech in a variety of specialist environments;
3. have learned, practised and implemented vocal pedagogical skills;
4. have a sound understanding of their own voice and speech;
5. have developed an approach to working with the relationship between voice, speech and text.
